Thank you to everyone at Vaudreys for helping to make my surprise birthday celebration so perfect at the end of March. My daughter and husband who secretly arranged the event for me,  were so impressed with the help and advise you gave them, which was reflected in how smoothly the whole evening went. When I arrived, family and old friends were there looking very relaxed in the bar area and it wasn’t long, after bar staff had given me a much needed drink, that I too felt relaxed (after the initial shock at seeing everyone there).

 

After a leisurely ‘meet and greet’, Keith walked me through to the function room where again I was totally amazed to see how beautifully set out and decorated it was. All members of staff were so attentive to every little detail and worked so hard, yet were somehow never over invasive. All this resulted in a perfect evening I shall never ever forget – my face ached from so much smiling.

 

The food was excellent with a varied choice and no complaints from anyone. Clean plates at the end of the courses spoke volumes. The younger members of our group also enjoyed their special menu choices and so too the vegetarian members. I absolutely loved my pigeon breast starter and main course of sea bass fillet - both cooked to perfection. There were many sighs from the rump of lamb-ers too commenting on the excellence of their dish. There is no doubt we shall be back and the fact there are frequent menu changes makes it even more likely to be sooner rather than later.

 

My daughter and husband were also given the choice of having some jazz musicians play during the evening, which they agreed to and none of us were disappointed. The background music was just perfect.

 

If anyone is thinking of having a special celebration you won’t go wrong by contacting and having a chat with Keith, Janis and their team. The whole place has a calming, welcoming ambience about it with varied and excellent food choices cooked to perfection. Something that is pretty hard to find these days.

When I found Vaudreys in one of many random searches for a restaurant that could or would host our wedding reception on 13 February 2010 I didn't expect to meet such friendly and helpful people. From the first telephone call to check for availability to saying goodnight on THE day we were being looked after, cared for and helped and we couldn't have wished for a better place to celebrate.

Nik started out as our main contact and was later joined by owners Keith and Janis. All three of them quickly 'took over' a certain area of planning: the Menu and room arrangements were covered by Nik and Keith while Janis took care of all things beautiful and some of them we didn't expect: fresh flowers to go with our colour theme, laying the tables and adding our decorations in the morning so I didn't have to and assembling our cake.
Nik and Keith were great when helping with our budget we were even offered a taster session when it turned out that I didn't actually like our original Vegan choice...in the end we just added another. :)

The food: Amazing is all I can say. I had a Mushroom & Pumkin starter which was to die for followed by Gnocchi in a tomato sauce with baby leeks and spinach... Gorgeous! As far as comments from our guests go they all thought the same about their dishes which included a Duck Salad, Sea Bass, Fillet of Beef or a Lentil Ragout.

The day in short: From the moment the guests arrived at Vaudreys they were greeted with biscuits and Tea&Coffee to warm up and our photographers were given all the space they needed for taking fantastic photos. Keith took on the role of Ceremonial Master: announcing us, the speeches and then the cake cutting which made for an organised party which was allowed to run until everybody went home, something we are VERY grateful for.

We will definitely be back and then I hope I can try that 3rd Vegan dish: the Tofu one. ;)
